Rene Vereijt came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by KFC Paal-Tervant's Shaun McLae. But to his dismay, Shaun McLae quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After some careless play in the FC Ouagadougou National defense, Jose Verschelde kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rene Vereijt. The FC Ouagadougou National fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rene Vereijt should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Westelinx in the 47th minute of play forced KFC Paal-Tervant's goalkeeper Freddy Tilens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Freddy Tilens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from German Bernebe, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Shaun McLae in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rene Vereijt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jose Verschelde could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Rene Vereijt made a huge save. 85 minutes into the match, FC Ouagadougou National's goal looked a bit too open when Yücel Yamaç came free, but Rene Vereijt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Freddy Tilens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abdulla Baia in the 87th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Dani Rojas managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Ouagadougou National's supporters rose to their feet, but Dani Rojas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Freddy Tilens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched KFC Paal-Tervant eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
