The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to FC Asterix getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Husref Nezirov hit a great ball. Bulent Martinović stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivo Džin's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute Zoltan Suadović shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bulent Martinović saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, FC Hairlije's Branislav Studenović got a free kick in the 10th minute. After recieving a nice pass, FC Asterix's Firduz Mujić tried to score from far away in the 11th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the FC Asterix defense, Zoltan Suadović kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bulent Martinović. The FC Asterix fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bulent Martinović should have stopped the shot. In the 15th match minute, FC Asterix was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hakija Zizović to maneuver through the defense. If Zoltan Suadović had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Asterix's zone, Ivo Džin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bulent Martinović came out of the goal and Ivo Džin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, FC Asterix's Stanislav Šeferović got a free kick in the 22nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Šemsudin Vulić during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 24 minutes into the game, one of FC Asterix:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 28th minute, Asemir Bolić reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Pašo Selaković. The goal made the score 1-2. After having played for 33 minutes, Asemir Bolić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Asterix's supporters crossed their fingers, but Asemir Bolić was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hakija Zizović fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pašo Selaković having to interfere. Asemir Bolić received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Pašo Selaković tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bulent Martinović made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zoltan Suadović in the 46th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 49th minute, Ivo Džin managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hairlije's supporters rose to their feet, but Ivo Džin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bulent Martinović breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Asemir Bolić made the kick off in the second half. If Hivzija Švrakić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Fesmir Jugo fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Hairlije's protests and gave Fesmir Jugo a yellow card for diving instead. Fesmir Jugo hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. If Ivo Džin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pašo Selaković stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hakija Zizović's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when FC Hairlije's Ivo Džin in the 93rd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Bulent Martinović was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for FC Asterix through an amazing save. FC Hairlije's Pašo Selaković played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Asemir Bolić in the 94th minute of play. If Hakija Zizović had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Asemir Bolić came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the FC Asterix fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Asemir Bolić couldn't finish the play. When FC Asterix's Hakija Zizović in the 99th minute got a chance for a shot 99th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Hairlije's goalie prevented a goal.
