After 24 played minutes, Wienerberg's Klaus-Dieter Heimeier shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Meikel Ganther came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wienerberg reached it. Albrecht Haberer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Wienerberg booed when Thalbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael-Jan Ehrhoff didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th minute, Tommi Kardell fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Meikel Ganther, passed just outside the right post. Meikel Ganther showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommi Kardell, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. When Wienerberg's Tommi Kardell in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Thalbach's goalie prevented a goal. In the 35th minute, Robert Traintinger ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Peer Münks prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Tommi Kardell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79thth minute of the game Albrecht Haberer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Thalbach's Meikel Ganther was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Albrecht Haberer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Meikel Ganther tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Meikel Ganther stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tommi Kardell's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. If Andre-Yann Kehl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Michael-Jan Ehrhoff kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match.
