Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Magnus Axten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jan Springer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Borussia Dortmund's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rapid Hollabrunn the free kick. Magnus Axten scored 0-2 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Helmut Hinz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Nico Dubinski showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. 64 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Nico Dubinski came free, but Helmut Hinz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 73 minutes in the game, Nico Dubinski fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Helmut Hinz having to interfere. When Magnus Axten came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Rapid Hollabrunn fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Magnus Axten couldn't finish the play. In the 82nd minute Rainer Ramelow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Beich saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match was over Rapid Hollabrunn could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Borussia Dortmund throughout the match.
