In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Gritschach FSV's goalkeeper Marcel Dürr, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 36th minute, Crvena Zvezda's Hansjörg Ehrlich ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcel Dürr. Marcel Dürr yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When Jan-Benedikt Rick fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Crvena Zvezda's protests and gave Jan-Benedikt Rick a yellow card for diving instead. When Jan-Benedikt Rick was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 45 minutes had been played. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sven-Hendrik Leßing stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jannick Ballik's late challenge caught a Crvena Zvezda's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jannick Ballik helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Gritschach FSV getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Jannick Ballik hit a great ball. Marcel Dürr showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Hendrik Leßing in the 53rd minute of the match. If Alexander Zentner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Crvena Zvezda's zone, Oliver Krückmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ralf Coppenrath came out of the goal and Oliver Krückmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ralf Coppenrath yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. 73 minutes into the match, Oliver Krückmann had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ralf Coppenrath. Crvena Zvezda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oliver Krückmann was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Ralf Coppenrath made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Björn Roth in the 80th minute of play. Oliver Krückmann in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ralf Coppenrath, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Björn Roth in the 83rd minute of play forced Crvena Zvezda's goalkeeper Ralf Coppenrath to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
