Gordon Urban kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Marko Wayer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peer Grabs having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hermann Hesseling in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Peer Grabs prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Marko Wayer managed to get in a good position for a shot. TSV Kirchberg's supporters rose to their feet, but Marko Wayer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peer Grabs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marko Wayer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peer Grabs read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. When TSV Kirchberg's Hermann Hesseling in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermann Hesseling in the 47th minute of play forced FC Red Bull Salzburg's goalkeeper Peer Grabs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hermann Hesseling to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55thth minute of the game Hermann Hesseling who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Red Bull Salzburg's Peer Grabs was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Uwe Melischko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simon Appeltrath sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marko Wayer struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Peer Grabs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TSV Kirchberg. After a defensive mix-up in FC Red Bull Salzburg's zone, Hermann Hesseling stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peer Grabs came out of the goal and Hermann Hesseling tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peer Grabs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermann Hesseling in the 75th minute of play. If Hermann Hesseling had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute, Marko Wayer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The TSV Kirchberg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 85th minute Hermann Hesseling shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peer Grabs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marko Wayer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peer Grabs having to interfere. David Kopf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marko Wayer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Peer Grabs made a huge save. In the 95th minute Hermann Hesseling shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peer Grabs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The FC Red Bull Salzburg fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. TSV Kirchberg were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
