The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David-Pascal Wehn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Simon Hillerzeder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Simon Hillerzeder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David-Pascal Wehn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers David-Pascal Wehn in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Simon Hillerzeder saved Horbranz from getting behind. Thorsten Nikolics short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Simon Hillerzeder to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thad Graham didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matthias Metzler went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 36 minutes, Matthias Metzler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horbranz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matthias Metzler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rudolf Schreiber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thad Graham having to interfere. After 40 minutes of play, Kneiding FSV's Thorsten Nikolic made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Simon Hillerzeder was left in no man's land by his defense there! Matthias Metzler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Thad Graham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Horbranz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simon Hillerzeder should have stopped the shot. If David-Pascal Wehn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute.
