After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Jannik Herzog managed to get in a good position for a shot. Borussia Dortmund's supporters rose to their feet, but Jannik Herzog was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jens Bülau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Krenobitsch's Sebastian Orthaus got a free kick in the 14th minute. Jannik Herzog fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens Bülau having to interfere. Borussia Dortmund's Sven-Philipp Kastner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vincent Kosner in the 17th minute of play.
