Bergheim FSV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leo-Jan Buchholz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Neukettenhof's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Olli Ivanschitz in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Neukettenhof's goalkeeper Tom Kaumanns had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sven-Hendrik Cuypers. Leo-Jan Buchholz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Tim Vortkamp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joshua Prause charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joshua Prause the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 13th minute, Joshua Prause hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the game, Mats-Alexander Sittarz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Tim Vortkamp was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tom Kaumanns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Hendrik Cuypers, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 28th minute, Sven-Hendrik Cuypers left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bergheim FSV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Tom Kaumanns was a little too slow when Jannik Nachtsheim got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. The score was now 2-2. After some careless play in the Bergheim FSV defense, Mats-Alexander Sittarz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tim Vortkamp. The Bergheim FSV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tim Vortkamp should have stopped the shot. Hartmut Ahrem made in the 41st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Timo Meier. After the first half Neukettenhof were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mats-Alexander Sittarz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tom Kaumanns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timo Meier, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After 57 minutes, Jannik Nachtsheim mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bergheim FSV and the Neukettenhof players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th minute, Jannik Nachtsheim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A sloppy throw-in by Axel Urban in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Neukettenhof's Yannick Kochmann. 61 minutes into the match, Sven-Hendrik Cuypers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tom Kaumanns. Neukettenhof's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sven-Hendrik Cuypers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-4. Tim Vortkamp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leo-Jan Buchholz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Urs Stein came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Bergheim FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Urs Stein couldn't finish the play. Tom Kaumanns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timo Meier in the 68th minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, Mats-Alexander Sittarz dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tim Vortkamp, 3-5. A throw-in in the 73rd minute of the game was made by Axel Urban with Valentin Peth as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Tom Kaumanns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timo Meier in the 76th minute of play. A collision led to Bergheim FSV getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Jannik Nachtsheim hit a great ball. In the 85th minute, Sven-Hendrik Cuypers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tom Kaumanns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Hendrik Cuypers in the 87th minute of play. Tim Vortkamp made an important save on a dangerous shot by Olli Ivanschitz in the 90th minute. Mats-Alexander Sittarz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Hartmut Ahrem in the 94th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Neukettenhof's Peter Nieth. After a defensive mix-up in Neukettenhof's zone, Jannik Nachtsheim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tom Kaumanns came out of the goal and Jannik Nachtsheim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
