An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Kraft in the 25th minute of play forced Bierussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Christoph Rohe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Hessen United's Alex Dresner got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Andre Engberts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Bierussia Dortmund booed when FC Hessen United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastian Zientara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andre Engberts was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 36th minute. Bierussia Dortmund's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Christoph Rohe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Dresner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edgar Stromann to make the kick off. If Andre Engberts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Hessen United's zone, Andre Engberts stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Axel Röber came out of the goal and Andre Engberts tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Hönicke got his second yellow card in the match during the 59th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 68th match minute, FC Hessen United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrick Genau to maneuver through the defense. Alex Dresner was extremely unlucky when he, in the 78th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Christoph Rohe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Dresner in the 81st minute of the match. If Alex Kraft had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andre Engberts took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Axel Röber. Axel Röber dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After 91 played minutes Bierussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Per-Otto Kahofer. FC Hessen United were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Bierussia Dortmund to leave the ground with a draw.
