Çağdaş Yuvakuran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After taking down the ball on Poli Timisoara's corner Adib Ovi fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Alf Tempel quite easily take care of the ball. If Bartosz Erland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 15 minutes, Daniel Hagedorn made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Rapid Wien booed when Poli Timisoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vilhelm Larsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ovidiu Adrian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Hagedorn, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Timo-Fabian Wolf made a great header on Rapid Wien's corner, it was just that Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian managed to reach the ball for a save. After 34 minutes of play, Poli Timisoara's Mauro Primeiro made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alf Tempel was left in no man's land by his defense there! The wind increased when Daniel Hagedorn made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tiger De Hond in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alf Tempel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rapid Wien's Daniel Hagedorn got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian got control of the ball when Daniel Hagedorn tried to sneak it across the goal line. Poli Timisoara's Ovidiu Adrian proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Poli Timisoara from getting a goal against them. Alf Tempel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Primeiro in the 60th minute of the match. In the 61st match minute, Rapid Wien was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mirco Kähler to maneuver through the defense. Jan-Erik Stockbauer hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Poli Timisoara's Horst-Peter Unterberger got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Poli Timisoara were furious when Julien-Nils Trede was red carded, 67 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 67 minutes into the game, one of Poli Timisoara:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Daniel Hagedorn who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 73rdth minute tested the skills of Ovidiu Adrian when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Mauro Primeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alf Tempel was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Jan-Erik Stockbauer kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Albert Kraft hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rapid Wien were awarded a corner in the 95th minute after Poli Timisoara's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Timo-Fabian Wolf took the corner. Chants of Rapid Wien echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Poli Timisoara had held the ball for most of the match.
