Spectators: 8496 (Terracing: 6373, Seating: 1954, VIP seats: 169) The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stu Spink during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 3 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Budleigh Salterton! When the match had been going on for 4 minutes, Bromyard's Nicky Pickford got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Alan Simms. With his leg Alan Simms managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when Bromyard's Jerry Britton fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Joe Marshall managed to get in a good position for a shot. Budleigh Salterton's supporters rose to their feet, but Joe Marshall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Don Martinez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 23 minutes into the match, Bromyard's goal looked a bit too open when Joe Marshall came free, but Don Martinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Jerry Britton dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alan Simms, 2-0. In the 27th match minute, Bromyard was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laurence Dewhirst to maneuver through the defense. If Aaron Philpott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Piers Howarth came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Budleigh Salterton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Piers Howarth couldn't finish the play. When Laurence Dewhirst fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bromyard's protests and gave Laurence Dewhirst a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Bromyard's Laurence Dewhirst got a free kick in the 38th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Bromyard's goal looked a bit too open when Aaron Philpott came free, but Don Martinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joe Marshall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Budleigh Salterton's Joe Marshall got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 45 minutes, Reg Hughes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bromyard and the Budleigh Salterton players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th minute, Reg Hughes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joe Marshall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Don Martinez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

If Joe Marshall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Budleigh Salterton's Aaron Philpott in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bromyard's goalie prevented a goal. Jerry Britton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 63 minutes, Donny Grantham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bromyard's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donny Grantham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jerry Britton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Simms having to interfere. Donny Grantham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the match, Donny Grantham had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alan Simms. Budleigh Salterton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Donny Grantham was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 79th minute of the match Dan Sutton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alan Simms showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Donny Grantham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Simms having to interfere. If Jerry Britton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 92 minutes into the match, Bromyard's goalkeeper Don Martinez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joe Marshall. Alan Simms made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerry Britton in the 96th minute of play. Bromyard were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Budleigh Salterton for a fine match.
