Seating: 1967, VIP seats: 169) Sidney Groom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zackary Billington, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zackary Billington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Stewart Preston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 10 minutes into the match, Tewkesbury's goal looked a bit too open when Stewart Preston came free, but Sidney Groom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sidney Groom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stewart Preston, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Barney Dimmock managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tewkesbury's supporters rose to their feet, but Barney Dimmock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Darren Parry breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32ndth minute of the game Stewart Preston who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tewkesbury's Sidney Groom was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zackary Billington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidney Groom having to interfere. A collision led to Tewkesbury getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Kirk Spencer hit a great ball. The Newton Abbot fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Newton Abbot's Stewart Preston looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Stewart Preston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Sidney Groom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Denzil Alsop stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Tewkesbury's zone, Stewart Preston stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sidney Groom came out of the goal and Stewart Preston tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sidney Groom stood somewhat misplaced when Zackary Billington came free in front of goal and shot 0-3 to the left of him in the 53 minute. Zackary Billington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidney Groom having to interfere. With a little luck, Tewkesbury's Sidney Groom got control of the ball when Zackary Billington tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nigel Reed charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nigel Reed the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd minute, Nigel Reed hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stewart Preston in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sidney Groom prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Newton Abbot's Zackary Billington got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zackary Billington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidney Groom having to interfere.
