The Newton Abbot fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Newton Abbot's Stewart Preston looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Zackary Billington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidney Groom having to interfere. With a little luck, Tewkesbury's Sidney Groom got control of the ball when Zackary Billington tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nigel Reed charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nigel Reed the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
