An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonny Bateman in the 39th minute of play forced Newton Abbot's goalkeeper Darren Parry to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Newton Abbot's goal looked a bit too open when Phil Reeve came free, but Darren Parry reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 4-2 when Stewart Preston sped through Pic Negre's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zane Beerman.
