Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ray Hales got the match started through his kick off. Ron Briant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denzil Alsop, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Lancing AFC's Ron Briant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denzil Alsop in the 5th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Barney Dimmock managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tewkesbury's supporters rose to their feet, but Barney Dimmock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ron Briant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20thth minute of the game Ray Hales who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tewkesbury's Sidney Groom was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Lancing AFC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Ronan Titmus hit a great ball. Pierce Armstrong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidney Groom having to interfere. Pierce Armstrong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sidney Groom showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miles Wildman in the 34th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Ray Hales kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sidney Groom. That made the score 2-0 in the 41 minute of play. Ron Briant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kirk Spencer went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Sidney Groom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ray Hales in the 53rd minute of play. Pierce Armstrong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Pierce Armstrong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sidney Groom showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pierce Armstrong in the 60th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Lancing AFC's Pierce Armstrong sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sidney Groom narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ray Hales sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 66th minute, Doug Chegwyn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, Pierce Armstrong had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sidney Groom. Tewkesbury's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pierce Armstrong was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Ray Hales might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sidney Groom. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ray Hales ran back to his position shaking his head. After 79 minutes, Marcus Mortlock mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lancing AFC and the Tewkesbury players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 79th match minute, Lancing AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Mortlock to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Tewkesbury's Doug Chegwyn got a free kick in the 95th minute. Sonny Haskell, 95 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. There was no doubt that Lancing AFC were the better team. Lancing AFC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
