If Christian Farmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kirk Spencer kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. After 16 played minutes Skipton got a freekick which was hit by Bob Leather. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Denzil Alsop to make the kick off. Skipton's Basil Cornish played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denzil Alsop in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johnnie Worth in the 61st minute of play forced Tewkesbury's goalkeeper Sidney Groom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Basil Cornish took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denzil Alsop, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 69 minutes into the match, Skipton's Bob Leather sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sidney Groom narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 85 minutes, Kirk Spencer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tewkesbury and the Skipton players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sidney Groom showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bob Leather in the 96th minute of the match. Skipton's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
