Seating: 1968, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Vinnie Winterbine kicked off to start the match. Stefan Bennett hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Sidmouth's Cliff Higgins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Hanson in the 10th minute of play. When Pyrenees Club's Marc Hanson in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The Sidmouth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cliff Higgins should have stopped the shot. If Albert Crooks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the match, Sidmouth's goal looked a bit too open when Romeo Harris came free, but Cliff Higgins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 36 minutes of play, Pyrenees Club's Marc Hanson made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cliff Higgins was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cliff Higgins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marc Hanson's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. After 44 minutes, Stefan Bennett mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sidmouth and the Pyrenees Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sidmouth's Stefan Bennett got a free kick in the 44th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marc Hanson to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeo Harris got free with Cliff Higgins in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Pyrenees Club's Marc Hanson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cliff Higgins. That made the score 0-4 after 52 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marc Hanson in the 60th minute of play forced Sidmouth's goalkeeper Cliff Higgins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Garth Boston hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Cliff Higgins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romeo Harris, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 66th minute, Jim Milton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Richard Moorhouse was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. When Pyrenees Club's Marc Hanson in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sidmouth's goalie prevented a goal. Cliff Higgins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marc Hanson in the 71st minute of the match. After 74 minutes of play, Pyrenees Club's Marc Hanson made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cliff Higgins was left in no man's land by his defense there! A hard shot 77 in the game by Marc Hanson from a close distance when the talented Cliff Higgins managed to make a qualified save. Sidmouth's players were relieved. Marc Hanson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Cliff Higgins made a huge save. After 84 minutes, Marc Hanson made it 1-6 with a short kick to the right side. Sidmouth's Cliff Higgins tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Marc Hanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Sidmouth fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Pyrenees Club were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
