Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. After a defensive mix-up in Hanworth's zone, Steve Haskell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Den Cryer came out of the goal and Steve Haskell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steve Haskell might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Den Cryer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Steve Haskell ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Beesley in the 29th minute of play forced Radio Andorra's goalkeeper Syd East to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 34 minutes, Bill Seward managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Radio Andorra's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bill Seward was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Steve Haskell might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Den Cryer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Steve Haskell made a kick off.
