Southwold
Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) Southwold's Barrie Harding started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Stamford United's Nathan Pringle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Stamford United from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Southwold getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Denny Ashby hit a great ball. After having played for 10 minutes, Stewart Endean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stamford United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stewart Endean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Harry Blake scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ted Boxall, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nathan Pringle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rory Oakes in the 15th minute. Nathan Pringle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barrie Harding in the 17th minute of play. Stewart Endean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ted Boxall having to interfere. In the 21st minute, Ged Coates hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ged Coates succeeded in the game's 24th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stewart Endean in the 27th minute of play forced Southwold's goalkeeper Ted Boxall to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stewart Endean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Ted Boxall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Harry Blake sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 32ndth minute of the game Stewart Endean who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Southwold's Ted Boxall was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ged Coates fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ted Boxall having to interfere. 35 minutes into the game, Stamford United's Ged Coates nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ted Boxall made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Ted Boxall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stewart Endean in the 40th minute of play. Stamford United's Kris Grainger got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Stamford United fans' excitement grew in the 46th match minute when Stamford United's Stewart Endean looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stewart Endean was the one to do the kick off. When Kris Grainger came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Stamford United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kris Grainger couldn't finish the play. Harry Blake kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Southwold's Ted Boxall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stewart Endean in the 60th minute of play. Stewart Endean blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ted Boxall having to make a save. Ged Coates hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. After 67 minutes of play, Stamford United's Stewart Endean made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ted Boxall was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 71st minute, Stewart Endean made a precise shot to the right of Ted Boxall. Southwold's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. After having played for 75 minutes, Stewart Endean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stamford United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stewart Endean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Kris Grainger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stamford United's supporters rose to their feet, but Kris Grainger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ted Boxall breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stewart Endean let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 78th minute shot 0-7 at rihgt post. Andy Wooding took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 84th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ted Boxall. Southwold's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Stamford United's Ged Coates got a free kick in the 85th minute. Ged Coates sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Southwold booed when Stamford United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joe Langdon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kris Grainger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Barrie Harding kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Stewart Endean struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Ted Boxall didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stamford United.
