Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) Venture Electronics's Giles Seward started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Venture Electronics's Marc Featherstone proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Venture Electronics from getting a goal against them. Clive Kidd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marc Featherstone had great luck who in the 12thth minute grab hold of the ball when Daniel Swallow from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Den Laycock charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Den Laycock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 15th match minute, Venture Electronics was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Den Laycock to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Venture Electronics's zone, Daniel Swallow stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marc Featherstone came out of the goal and Daniel Swallow tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 17th match minute, Venture Electronics was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Den Laycock to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Swallow in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marc Featherstone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pete Hooker hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Giles Seward sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 34 minutes into the game, one of Venture Electronics:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. A collision led to Gedling United getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Allan Law hit a great ball. In the 42ndth minute of the game Giles Seward who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gedling United's Ged Deacon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Clive Kidd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marc Featherstone having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Daniel Swallow got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Swallow in the 52nd minute of play forced Venture Electronics's goalkeeper Marc Featherstone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Swallow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 58 played minutes Venture Electronics got a freekick which was hit by Graeme Crittenden. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clive Kidd in the 62nd minute of play forced Venture Electronics's goalkeeper Marc Featherstone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Larry Lawton fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gedling United's protests and gave Larry Lawton a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 played minutes Gedling United got a freekick which was hit by Larry Lawton. Venture Electronics's Ron Chadwick couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 66th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Gedling United. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venture Electronics's goalkeeper Marc Featherstone, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Clive Kidd managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gedling United's supporters rose to their feet, but Clive Kidd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marc Featherstone breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clive Kidd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Clive Kidd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marc Featherstone having to interfere. Giles Seward received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Ged Deacon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ged Deacon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giles Seward, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Gedling United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venture Electronics had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
