Güray Özender showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raşit Bağcı, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. The Baspinar fans' excitement grew in the 56th match minute when Baspinar's Gökcan Ziver looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Güray Özender made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ahmet Göktuğ Irgatbaşı in the 63rd minute. Gökcan Ziver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şerafettin Safa having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Danış Daman in the 66th minute of play forced İzmirspor's goalkeeper Şerafettin Safa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute there was a penalty for Baspinar. Birol İmren stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Şerafettin Safa. 2-2. When Birol İmren came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Baspinar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Birol İmren couldn't finish the play. İzmirspor were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Baspinar's much stronger midfield.
