The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hüsmen Ergenç showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baturay Baştürk, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Refahiye FK's goal looked a bit too open when Birsel Adışanlı came free, but Sezgin Derdiyok reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Refahiye FK's Sezgin Derdiyok played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mehmet Oğuz Naci in the 12th minute of play. Mehmet Oğuz Naci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Birsel Adışanlı put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Sezgin Derdiyok. 20 minutes into the game, Atacan Harmancı was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Preston's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Refahiye FK the free kick. In the 21st minute, Atacan Harmancı hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute, Alptuğ Vefi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 26 minutes of play, Preston's Mehmet Oğuz Naci made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sezgin Derdiyok was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Preston getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Abbas Yalınalp hit a great ball. Hüsmen Ergenç showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baturay Baştürk, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Cemal Sanih hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After having played for 36 minutes, Baturay Baştürk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Refahiye FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Baturay Baştürk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Birsel Adışanlı in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sezgin Derdiyok saved Refahiye FK from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Preston's zone, Alptuğ Vefi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hüsmen Ergenç came out of the goal and Alptuğ Vefi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Sezgin Derdiyok made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Birsel Adışanlı sent off a good shot on target. When Cüneyd Suerdem fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Refahiye FK's protests and gave Cüneyd Suerdem a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Refahiye FK's Cüneyd Suerdem got a free kick in the 59th minute. Yıldıray Bektaş received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Sezgin Derdiyok tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 64th minute of the match Cüneyd Suerdem completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Cüneyd Suerdem a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Cüneyd Suerdem hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Refahiye FK's zone, Birsel Adışanlı stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sezgin Derdiyok came out of the goal and Birsel Adışanlı tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alptuğ Vefi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hüsmen Ergenç having to interfere. After having played for 79 minutes, Birsel Adışanlı managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Preston's supporters crossed their fingers, but Birsel Adışanlı was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Refahiye FK's Sezgin Derdiyok played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yıldıray Bektaş in the 82nd minute of play. Sezgin Derdiyok came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Preston's Birsel Adışanlı. But to his dismay, Birsel Adışanlı quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After a rather tough play, Preston's Cemal Sanih got a free kick in the 95th minute. Alptuğ Vefi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hüsmen Ergenç having to interfere. When the match was over Preston could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Refahiye FK throughout the match.
