The referee ignored Galatasaray's protests and gave Binali Akkanoğlu a yellow card for diving instead. The referee gave KÖKEZ FK a penalty, 5 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Şerif Afacan, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Galatasaray's İsa Akbuğ. 0-1. Galatasaray's İsa Akbuğ played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yıldırım Recai in the 7th minute of play. If Selim Tuğtekin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 10 minutes into the game, Rahim Ağca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. KÖKEZ FK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Galatasaray the free kick. Özmen Zorbey's late challenge caught a KÖKEZ FK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Özmen Zorbey helped the player get up and apologised. After 16 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Özmen Zorbey. Yıldırım Recai recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zikri Tansan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. İsa Akbuğ tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 42 minutes, Doğan Değirmencioğlu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galatasaray and the KÖKEZ FK players grew even worse after the yellow card. KÖKEZ FK's Celal Cevar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abdulbaki Bekata in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yıldırım Recai couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yıldırım Recai got free with İsa Akbuğ in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Rahim Ağca managed to get in a good position for a shot. KÖKEZ FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Rahim Ağca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. İsa Akbuğ breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yıldırım Recai got free with İsa Akbuğ in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 87th minute, Rahim Ağca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. KÖKEZ FK were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
