Through an outstanding action, after 4 minutes, Gani Necmi successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 6 minutes into the match, Izmit's goal looked a bit too open when Alemdar Sönmezalp came free, but Gani Necmi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Traian Hoancă struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Gani Necmi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ESKİŞEHİRSPOR. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Traian Hoancă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gani Necmi having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Yağızhan Ozansoy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Feyyaz Alan charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Feyyaz Alan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Feyyaz Alan kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Traian Hoancă during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Traian Hoancă hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Traian Hoancă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gani Necmi having to interfere. Traian Hoancă could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Gani Necmi made a huge save. With his leg Gani Necmi managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when ESKİŞEHİRSPOR's Traian Hoancă fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 36 minutes into the match, Izmit's goalkeeper Gani Necmi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Şamil Sağcan. Gani Necmi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Şamil Sağcan in the 37th minute of the match. Traian Hoancă might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gani Necmi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Traian Hoancă ran back to his position shaking his head. When Şamil Sağcan came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the ESKİŞEHİRSPOR fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Şamil Sağcan couldn't finish the play. Traian Hoancă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Gani Necmi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Necaettin Duha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Izmit booed when ESKİŞEHİRSPOR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vahap Durucan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 57th minute, Aytaç Kıvılcım hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Izmit's Gani Necmi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Traian Hoancă in the 58th minute of play. Gani Necmi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Traian Hoancă recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Şamil Sağcan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gani Necmi having to interfere. ESKİŞEHİRSPOR's Traian Hoancă got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gani Necmi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Şamil Sağcan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gani Necmi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Şamil Sağcan's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. After 85 played minutes Izmit got a freekick which was hit by Seyfullah Bektaş. Gani Necmi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Traian Hoancă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mahsun Cesur made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Ediz Kaman sent off a good shot on target. Gani Necmi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Traian Hoancă in the 93rd minute of play.
