In the 37th minute, İsmet Bedük got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ferhan Baykoca struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Ertunç Eroğul showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Şafak Yavuzay in the 41st minute of the match. Şafak Yavuzay scored 0-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ertunç Eroğul, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Şafak Yavuzay to make the kick off. Şafak Yavuzay was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 52nd minute. Altay's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 56 minutes into the game, Şafak Yavuzay recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ertunç Eroğul. Şafak Yavuzay showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Ertunç Eroğul was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in vatan's zone, Fikri Yaltıray stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ertunç Eroğul came out of the goal and Fikri Yaltıray tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fikri Yaltıray got free with Ertunç Eroğul in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Altay's Şafak Yavuzay in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye vatan's goalie prevented a goal. The Altay supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Altay would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
