With a little luck, GaLaTaSaRaY's Galip Sağan got control of the ball when Yusuf Ziya Ilıcan tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 9th match minute, Tercan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mehmet Ali Türkyılmaz to maneuver through the defense. Tercan's Mehmet Arif Atlıhan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Recai Özbilge in the 9th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Recai Özbilge in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mehmet Arif Atlıhan saved Tercan from getting behind. Süleyman Sarduç fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Galip Sağan having to interfere. GaLaTaSaRaY's Galip Sağan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Süleyman Sarduç in the 16th minute of play. Recai Özbilge recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mehmet Arif Atlıhan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mithat Özgeer, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The corner ended in Kuddusî Talaykut almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Tercan's Mehmet Arif Atlıhan did a great save. Yusuf Ziya Ilıcan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Galip Sağan having to interfere. Mehmet Arif Atlıhan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ali Nejat Asalet in the 27th minute of the match. Yusuf Ziya Ilıcan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Galip Sağan having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Recai Özbilge put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Mehmet Arif Atlıhan. An unexpectedly hard shot by Süleyman Sarduç in the 35th minute of play forced GaLaTaSaRaY's goalkeeper Galip Sağan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to GaLaTaSaRaY getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Rıfkı Tanbek hit a great ball. Vecdi Cinel hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 43 minutes into the game, when Buğra Bostan put in a rough tackle. The supporters of Tercan booed when GaLaTaSaRaY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Buğra Bostan didn't get a good kick on the ball. GaLaTaSaRaY's Kuddusî Talaykut got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Süleyman Sarduç to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes GaLaTaSaRaY got a freekick which was hit by Ali Nejat Asalet. In the 54th minute, Recai Özbilge got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With his leg Mehmet Arif Atlıhan managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when GaLaTaSaRaY's Recai Özbilge fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Recai Özbilge in the 73rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mehmet Arif Atlıhan, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to GaLaTaSaRaY getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Kuddusî Talaykut hit a great ball. Recai Özbilge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Mehmet Arif Atlıhan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute, Recai Özbilge had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. GaLaTaSaRaY made a substitution. Reha Yıldırım replaced Recai Özbilge. 94 minutes into the game, one of Tercan:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty.
