With a little luck, FENERBAHÇE's İrfan Erşahin got control of the ball when Recai Özbilge tried to sneak it across the goal line. Galip Sağan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alemdar Bala in the 8th minute of play. After some careless play in the FENERBAHÇE defense, Recai Özbilge kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of İrfan Erşahin. The FENERBAHÇE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that İrfan Erşahin should have stopped the shot. Berke Karadeniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Galip Sağan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alemdar Bala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to FENERBAHÇE getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Tuncer Bircan hit a great ball. İrfan Erşahin stood somewhat misplaced when Recai Özbilge came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 16 minute. When Alemdar Bala came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the FENERBAHÇE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alemdar Bala couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Recai Özbilge managed to get in a good position for a shot. GaLaTaSaRaY's supporters rose to their feet, but Recai Özbilge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. İrfan Erşahin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Galip Sağan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berke Karadeniz in the 31st minute of play. After 34 minutes, Recai Özbilge made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. FENERBAHÇE's İrfan Erşahin tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 40th minute, Sefa İmamoğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 42 minutes in the game, Recai Özbilge dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Mithat Özgeer struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. İrfan Erşahin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GaLaTaSaRaY. In the 47th match minute, FENERBAHÇE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tuncer Bircan to maneuver through the defense.

Mithat Özgeer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Recai Özbilge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İrfan Erşahin having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Recai Özbilge in the 63rd minute of play forced FENERBAHÇE's goalkeeper İrfan Erşahin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute, Recai Özbilge left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GaLaTaSaRaY fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 70thth minute of the game Mithat Özgeer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FENERBAHÇE's İrfan Erşahin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Galip Sağan was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Berke Karadeniz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-1 in the 74 minute of play. Ali Numan Kaptan hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Galip Sağan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Berke Karadeniz, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Alemdar Bala notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of GaLaTaSaRaY's Galip Sağan. Ali Nejat Asalet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 90 minutes into the game, GaLaTaSaRaY's Recai Özbilge nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. İrfan Erşahin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. There was no doubt that GaLaTaSaRaY were the better team. GaLaTaSaRaY's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
