After 5 minutes, Halim Durhal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Futbol Club İstanbul and the Güroymak players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Futbol Club İstanbul getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Halim Durhal hit a great ball. In the 6th minute Timur Ergün shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bedir Üstünbay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 13 minutes, Hüseyin Şaki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Futbol Club İstanbul and the Güroymak players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Futbol Club İstanbul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hüseyin Şaki to maneuver through the defense. In the 14thth minute of the game Timur Ergün who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Futbol Club İstanbul's Bedir Üstünbay was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bedir Üstünbay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ecevit Engiay in the 19th minute of play. With his leg Giray Ozansu managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Futbol Club İstanbul's Hüseyin Şaki fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Hüseyin Şaki's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Giray Ozansu firmly grabbed it by the left post. İlkan Yeten hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Futbol Club İstanbul's Haluk Nevzat shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 38th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Giray Ozansu but with some difficulty. If Ecevit Engiay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecevit Engiay struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Bedir Üstünbay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Güroymak. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arif Buğra Bilkan to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Güroymak's Ahmet Baki Kutbay got a free kick in the 59th minute. When Hüseyin Şaki came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Futbol Club İstanbul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hüseyin Şaki couldn't finish the play. Gencer Ayaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giray Ozansu having to interfere. Giray Ozansu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arif Buğra Bilkan, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Ecevit Engiay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Bedir Üstünbay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Futbol Club İstanbul's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ecevit Engiay fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 76th minute Gencer Ayaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giray Ozansu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ahmet Baki Kutbay fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Güroymak's protests and gave Ahmet Baki Kutbay a yellow card for diving instead. In the 79th minute, Gani Peyam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gencer Ayaz in the 82nd minute of play forced Güroymak's goalkeeper Giray Ozansu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecevit Engiay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bedir Üstünbay having to interfere. Ahmet Baki Kutbay kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Rafet İsiman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Futbol Club İstanbul fans cheered their team off the field, for while Güroymak had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
