The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Menderes JK's zone, Hayyam Cevan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hüseyin Rahmi Taşcan came out of the goal and Hayyam Cevan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Kütahya booed when Menderes JK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baskın Ayhan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 9 minutes of play, Menderes JK's Erhan Yılkan made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hüseyin Rahmi Taşcan yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aybar Battal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Güray Baran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aybar Battal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 78 minutes, Aybar Battal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Menderes JK and the Kütahya players grew even worse after the yellow card.
