The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ecevit Başsoy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Berk Durhal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Bahtiyar Başbuğ had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Poyraz Yanaç made the kick off in the second half. Berk Durhal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ecevit Başsoy in the 53rd minute. Poyraz Yanaç sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Derya Öztaş had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
