Şimşek Alatay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Resul Kabak in the 4th minute of play. Şimşek Alatay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Şaban Borlu in the 10th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Abay Akkurt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Mümin Timurhan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Abay Akkurt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. KızılKalkan's Şimşek Alatay proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save KızılKalkan from getting a goal against them. Abay Akkurt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erol Suyurgal during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of KızılKalkan booed when Somaspor SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erol Suyurgal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Resul Kabak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şimşek Alatay having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, KızılKalkan's goalkeeper Şimşek Alatay had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Şaban Borlu. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Mustafa Sungurbay managed to get in a good position for a shot. KızılKalkan's supporters rose to their feet, but Mustafa Sungurbay was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mümin Timurhan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Somaspor SK players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. KızılKalkan were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Resul Kabak stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Abay Akkurt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Mümin Timurhan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the game, Erdinç Eryavuz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Mümin Timurhan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Abay Akkurt was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 62nd minute. KızılKalkan's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 63rd match minute, Somaspor SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hıdır Rasih to maneuver through the defense. If Abay Akkurt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Somaspor SK's Metehan Laçin got a free kick in the 65th minute. The supporters of KızılKalkan booed when Somaspor SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Metehan Laçin didn't get a good kick on the ball. KızılKalkan:s Şimşek Alatay showed great skill when he stopped Nuri Enbiya:s penalty. 74 minutes into the match, Nuri Enbiya notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of KızılKalkan's Şimşek Alatay. Şimşek Alatay was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 78th minute, Abay Akkurt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Resul Kabak managed to get in a good position for a shot. Somaspor SK's supporters rose to their feet, but Resul Kabak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Şimşek Alatay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Somaspor SK's defense didn't have a chance, in the 84th minute, when Abay Akkurt scored to the left of an out of position Mümin Timurhan, making the score, 1-3. Şimşek Alatay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Resul Kabak in the 88th minute of the match. If Şaban Borlu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Umut Darcan fell near the penalty area in the 99th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KızılKalkan's protests and gave Umut Darcan a yellow card for diving instead. Umut Darcan hit a great freekick 99 minutes into the match. 100 minutes into the match, Somaspor SK's Nuri Enbiya broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The KızılKalkan supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing KızılKalkan would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
