Saadettin Seyfi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rüştü Doğanten having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Klonay's goalkeeper Mehmet Akif Öztuna had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oğuzer Günay. After 32 played minutes Klonay got a freekick which was hit by Nuh Bayraktar. After a defensive mix-up in Merinos's zone, Saadettin Seyfi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rüştü Doğanten came out of the goal and Saadettin Seyfi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cenan Okhan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Doğuş Sahadettin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Rüştü Doğanten tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Doğuş Sahadettin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mustafa Arif Kıralp stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Aydın Özhan might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rüştü Doğanten. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aydın Özhan ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Merinos's Oğuzer Günay got a free kick in the 56th minute. Aydın Özhan struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Rüştü Doğanten didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Klonay. Saadettin Seyfi's late challenge caught a Merinos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Saadettin Seyfi helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Merinos booed when Klonay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saadettin Seyfi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Doğuş Sahadettin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rüştü Doğanten read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. Klonay's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
