The FC Twente fans' excitement grew in the 8th match minute when FC Twente's Battal Seyyit Şensoy looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Battal Seyyit Şensoy fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Twente's protests and gave Battal Seyyit Şensoy a yellow card for diving instead. Battal Seyyit Şensoy hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aytek Cantürk got free with Bedrettin Günden in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, FC Twente's Bedrettin Günden got control of the ball when Engin Ruhsat tried to sneak it across the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Civril's Engin Ruhsat sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bedrettin Günden narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 28 minutes into the game, Rüştü Güdeş was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The audience thought a goal was coming when Engin Ruhsat got free with Bedrettin Günden in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aytek Cantürk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bedrettin Günden having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Aytek Cantürk fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A collision led to FC Twente getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Okaner Tugal hit a great ball. Engin Ruhsat received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Bedrettin Günden came out and tried to block the shot, but Engin Ruhsat slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Aytek Cantürk made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, FC Twente's Battal Seyyit Şensoy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ertan Samih narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC Twente's Bedrettin Günden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aytek Cantürk in the 67th minute of play. Ertan Samih showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Battal Seyyit Şensoy, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. A collision led to Civril getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Tugay Baykut hit a great ball. After 73 played minutes, FC Twente's Halim Öktuğ shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ertan Samih came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Twente reached it. FC Twente's Bedrettin Günden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aytek Cantürk in the 75th minute of play. Civril's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hüseyin Cahit Temizhan in the 76th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aytek Cantürk in the 78th minute of play forced FC Twente's goalkeeper Bedrettin Günden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute, Engin Ruhsat got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. FC Twente were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Civril's much stronger midfield.
