When Gökberk Öztaylan came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the İzmir Gücü fans jumped to their feet. When Gökberk Öztaylan fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored İzmir Gücü's protests and gave Gökberk Öztaylan a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Cermik JK booed when İzmir Gücü was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gökberk Öztaylan didn't get a good kick on the ball. İzmir Gücü's Asaf Mithat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tansel Aysan in the 39th minute of play. Hikmet Tezkan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gani Tanuğur having to make a save. Selman Kazakhan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gani Tanuğur having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 93 played minutes, İzmir Gücü's Hüsamettin Çelikhan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gani Tanuğur came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in İzmir Gücü reached it. When Tekin İrem came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Cermik JK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tekin İrem couldn't finish the play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cermik JK players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for İzmir Gücü.
