Spectators: 7220 (Terracing: 5416, Seating: 1661, VIP seats: 143) Kocaelispor's Cahit Denizcan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kıraç Özmen came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ilgaz's Korhan Usun. But to his dismay, Korhan Usun quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Ilgaz's zone, Cahit Denizcan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alim Tümerkin came out of the goal and Cahit Denizcan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alim Tümerkin made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Cahit Denizcan sent off a good shot on target. The nice shot from Cahit Denizcan in the 12thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Alim Tümerkin had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Kocaelispor's Kıraç Özmen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sinan Derinöz in the 16th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Kocaelispor's goal looked a bit too open when Metin Özsan came free, but Kıraç Özmen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Kocaelispor's Cahit Denizcan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alim Tümerkin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After some careless play in the Kocaelispor defense, Sinan Derinöz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kıraç Özmen. The Kocaelispor fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kıraç Özmen should have stopped the shot. 27 minutes into the match, Kocaelispor's goal looked a bit too open when Acun Delfin came free, but Kıraç Özmen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kıraç Özmen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Metin Özsan in the 31st minute of play. Kıraç Özmen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sinan Derinöz, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Talip Sönmezalp kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After 45 minutes of play, Kocaelispor's Cahit Denizcan made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alim Tümerkin was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Kocaelispor players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ilgaz were winning 2-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Korhan Usun was the one to do the kick off. Korhan Usun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 55th minute, one of Ilgaz:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ilgaz. Cahit Denizcan walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Cahit Denizcan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ahmet Bülent Ayvazoğlu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Alim Tümerkin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Metin Özsan hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. 65 minutes into the match, Kocaelispor's goalkeeper Kıraç Özmen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sinan Derinöz. Kıraç Özmen was a little too slow when Ahmet Ali Yalınayak got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 68th minute. The score was now 2-4. Cahit Denizcan struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Alim Tümerkin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kocaelispor. Kıraç Özmen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sinan Derinöz in the 74th minute. After 76 minutes of play, Ilgaz's Metin Özsan made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kıraç Özmen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kıraç Özmen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sinan Derinöz in the 79th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Kocaelispor's goal looked a bit too open when Korhan Usun came free, but Kıraç Özmen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abdulaziz Polatalp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Kıraç Özmen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sinan Derinöz got free with Kıraç Özmen in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 85th play minute Metin Özsan came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Kıraç Özmen. 2-6. Korhan Usun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kıraç Özmen having to interfere. Kıraç Özmen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Metin Özsan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ilgaz played a much better game than Kocaelispor and deserved their victory. The Kocaelispor players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
