The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Balikesir's goal looked a bit too open when Özmen Talut came free, but Harun Ongun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hüsamettin Halıcı showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Can Tekinsoy, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Polat Dokuzoğlu hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. When Özmen Talut came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Pasabahce fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Özmen Talut couldn't finish the play. Pasabahce's Hüsamettin Halıcı played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Can Tekinsoy in the 18th minute of play. In the 19th minute Özmen Talut shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harun Ongun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Polat Dokuzoğlu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aydın Tamay struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Harun Ongun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pasabahce. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Aydın Tamay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Özmen Talut in the 63rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Harun Ongun, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Hüsamettin Halıcı showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baha Ayalp in the 66th minute of the match. Harun Ongun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aydın Tamay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Harun Ongun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aydın Tamay, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hüsamettin Halıcı showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Balikesir's Can Tekinsoy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hüsamettin Halıcı narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pasabahce's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
