GALATASARAY's Besim Özge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Çelikan Yazgı in the 5th minute of play. Mesut Özengin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Zaferspor getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Ahmet Davut Suay hit a great ball. Ali Baran Ergüder took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Kılıç Zeyyat. Zaferspor's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, GALATASARAY's Mesut Özengin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kılıç Zeyyat narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mustafa Emrah Öztuna kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Erol Temren struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Kılıç Zeyyat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GALATASARAY. In the 19th minute, Erol Temren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Erol Temren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kılıç Zeyyat was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Ahmet Davut Suay came free with the goalkeeper in the 24th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Besim Özge could save by the left post. Ahmet Davut Suay hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Ahmet Davut Suay's late challenge caught a GALATASARAY's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ahmet Davut Suay helped the player get up and apologised. Ahmet Davut Suay kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Zaferspor's zone, Mesut Özengin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kılıç Zeyyat came out of the goal and Mesut Özengin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ali Çağrı Rıfat's late challenge caught a Zaferspor's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ali Çağrı Rıfat helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Mesut Özengin managed to get in a good position for a shot. GALATASARAY's supporters rose to their feet, but Mesut Özengin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kılıç Zeyyat breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mesut Özengin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kılıç Zeyyat having to interfere. Erol Temren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kılıç Zeyyat came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by GALATASARAY's Erol Temren. But to his dismay, Erol Temren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erol Temren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58th match minute, Zaferspor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahmet Davut Suay to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erol Temren in the 61st minute of play forced Zaferspor's goalkeeper Kılıç Zeyyat to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erol Temren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kılıç Zeyyat having to interfere. When Mustafa Emrah Öztuna fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zaferspor's protests and gave Mustafa Emrah Öztuna a yellow card for diving instead. Mustafa Emrah Öztuna kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. When Erol Temren came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the GALATASARAY fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erol Temren couldn't finish the play. In the 66th minute, Mesut Özengin made a precise shot to the right of Kılıç Zeyyat. Zaferspor's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mesut Özengin got free with Kılıç Zeyyat in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Mesut Özengin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kılıç Zeyyat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erol Temren in the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nurkan Vuralhan in the 82nd minute of play forced GALATASARAY's goalkeeper Besim Özge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kılıç Zeyyat made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erol Temren in the 86th minute of play. When the match was over GALATASARAY could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Zaferspor throughout the match.
