In the 3rd minute Afşar Savtuna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Çeliker Kızılaslan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Şansal Hürsev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kamil Acem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 18 minutes of play, Galatasaray's Kamil Acem made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Şansal Hürsev was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Kamil Acem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mavi Şimşek's Şansal Hürsev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kamil Acem in the 28th minute of play. Şansal Hürsev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erim Şengil, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After 35 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Fethi Batıkan. Çeliker Kızılaslan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Afşar Savtuna's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afşar Savtuna in the 39th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Çeliker Kızılaslan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute Hami Ertüze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şansal Hürsev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Afşar Savtuna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Çeliker Kızılaslan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 47 minutes, Hami Ertüze managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galatasaray's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hami Ertüze was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Afşar Savtuna was the one to do the kick off. Hami Ertüze in the 53rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Şansal Hürsev, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Sarper Sayıl charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sarper Sayıl the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Afşar Savtuna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mavi Şimşek's supporters rose to their feet, but Afşar Savtuna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Çeliker Kızılaslan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Şansal Hürsev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hami Ertüze, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Kamil Acem came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Galatasaray fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kamil Acem couldn't finish the play. Afşar Savtuna charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. A hard and well directed shot from Ali Faruk Tutkun led 84 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Mavi Şimşek's Şansal Hürsev became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 0-2. The Galatasaray players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
