If Faruk Tokkan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gencalp Tümerkin hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, GALATASARAY's Işık Ünsal tried to score from far away in the 15th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Birsel Ümit in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nazım Erdoğdu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 19th minute, Birsel Ümit got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Faruk Tokkan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Birol Yavuzalp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Birsel Ümit during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Birol Yavuzalp in the 25th minute of play forced GALATASARAY's goalkeeper Aybek Yoruç to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Birol Yavuzalp made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Ertaç Ünalmış shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aybek Yoruç saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Birsel Ümit who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 59thth minute tested the skills of Nazım Erdoğdu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After having played for 62 minutes, Birsel Ümit managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GALATASARAY's supporters crossed their fingers, but Birsel Ümit was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Birsel Ümit blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nazım Erdoğdu having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Faruk Tokkan during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 68th minute, Faruk Tokkan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. GALATASARAY's Birsel Ümit got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
