Recep Kırgız tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Coşkun Kudret kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. When Coşkun Kudret came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Galatasaray fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Coşkun Kudret couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Galatasaray's Saffet Temizsan got a free kick in the 18th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bora Sanat during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Eskişehirspor FK got a freekick which was hit by Bora Sanat. Levent Samim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Acar Gökalp in the 26th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Fedai Andaç left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Eskişehirspor FK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 37 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Osman Nuri Köken came free, but Recep Kırgız reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 38 minutes, Fedai Andaç managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eskişehirspor FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fedai Andaç was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bahadır Ferikoğlu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Eskişehirspor FK booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Coşkun Kudret didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Acar Gökalp made a kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Galatasaray got a corner. Eskişehirspor FK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. İsa Yanık ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that İsa Yanık got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Levent Samim quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Osman Nuri Köken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Recep Kırgız having to interfere. In the 57th minute, Osman Nuri Köken got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Levent Samim came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Galatasaray's Acar Gökalp. But to his dismay, Acar Gökalp quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Osman Nuri Köken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Recep Kırgız took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bahadır Ferikoğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Osman Nuri Köken scored 2-1 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Recep Kırgız, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Osman Nuri Köken sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Recep Kırgız showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gencalp Umur in the 73rd minute of the match. Acar Gökalp's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Levent Samim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. 3-1 became the score in the 78th minute when Osman Nuri Köken elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osman Nuri Köken in the 82nd minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Recep Kırgız to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Galatasaray's Recep Kırgız played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fedai Andaç in the 83rd minute of play. Eskişehirspor FK's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
