Kuzey Hirfet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Recep Kırgız having to interfere. After 5 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Saffet Temizsan. When Samsunspor's Fahri Şen in the 7th minute got a chance for a shot 7th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Galatasaray's goalie prevented a goal. If Barışcan Özengin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 21 minutes, Fahri Şen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Samsunspor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fahri Şen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Coşkun Kudret had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fahri Şen in the 28th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Recep Kırgız to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Acar Gökalp fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Barışcan Özengin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Barışcan Özengin came free, but Recep Kırgız reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Samsunspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet İlke İrem didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute Galatasaray were awarded a corner. İsa Yanık went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that İsa Yanık got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Mirza Sezer quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Recep Kırgız made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barışcan Özengin in the 47th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Ferhan Sabir hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 50th minute, Fahri Şen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Samsunspor fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The Galatasaray players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Samsunspor were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Barışcan Özengin to strike the kick off in the second half. Samsunspor's Mirza Sezer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Acar Gökalp in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th minute, Fahri Şen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Recep Kırgız stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Barışcan Özengin's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. 75 minutes into the match, Ahmet İlke İrem notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Galatasaray's Recep Kırgız. Recep Kırgız was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Acar Gökalp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Recep Kırgız made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Fahri Şen sent off a good shot on target. Barışcan Özengin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Recep Kırgız came out and tried to block the shot, but Barışcan Özengin slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 88th minute. When İbrahim Hekimbaşı fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galatasaray's protests and gave İbrahim Hekimbaşı a yellow card for diving instead. After 91 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Galatasaray! 97 minutes into the match, Samsunspor's Barışcan Özengin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Recep Kırgız narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fahri Şen's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 98thth minute, Recep Kırgız skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 100th minute, Coşkun Kudret managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatasaray's supporters rose to their feet, but Coşkun Kudret was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mirza Sezer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 104th minute, Barışcan Özengin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Recep Kırgız. The goal made the score 0-5.
