The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Galatasaray's Işıkalp Oskay got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Pekin Akgöze had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 10 minutes into the game, Asım Arif Yıldız cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Özgün Öztan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A hard shot 15 in the game by Asım Arif Yıldız from a close distance when the talented Özgün Öztan managed to make a qualified save. Karagümrük SK's players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in Karagümrük SK's zone, Işıkalp Oskay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Özgün Öztan came out of the goal and Işıkalp Oskay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Işıkalp Oskay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 19th match minute, Karagümrük SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anıl Ege Subahi to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Asım Arif Yıldız's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Özgün Öztan was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Galatasaray were furious when İsmet Tanır was red carded, 28 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 27th minute of the game. One of Galatasaray:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Karagümrük SK:s goal. In the 30th minute there was a penalty for Karagümrük SK. Bedirhan Ertüze stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Necmi Karataş. 1-1. Metehan Onsal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A hard shot 35 in the game by Metehan Onsal from a close distance when the talented Özgün Öztan managed to make a qualified save. Karagümrük SK's players were relieved. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Karagümrük SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andaç Ateşoğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Asım Arif Yıldız's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Özgün Öztan firmly grabbed it by the left post. Karagümrük SK's defense didn't have a chance, in the 37th minute, when Asım Arif Yıldız scored to the left of an out of position Özgün Öztan, making the score, 2-1. Asım Arif Yıldız fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Özgün Öztan having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Özbek Ustaoğlu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Galatasaray was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Suavi Heybetli to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Bedirhan Ertüze came free, but Necmi Karataş reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Özbek Ustaoğlu took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Necmi Karataş to make any attempt to save it. After 60 played minutes Karagümrük SK got a freekick which was hit by Anıl Ege Subahi. The crowd rose to their feet as Özbek Ustaoğlu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Necmi Karataş. That made the score 2-3 in the 64 minute of play. Özbek Ustaoğlu was extremely unlucky when he, in the 69th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Özbek Ustaoğlu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Necmi Karataş tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 73rd match minute, Galatasaray was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Işıkalp Oskay to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute, Asım Arif Yıldız hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Karagümrük SK's zone, Asım Arif Yıldız stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Özgün Öztan came out of the goal and Asım Arif Yıldız tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Asım Arif Yıldız recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Özbek Ustaoğlu fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Karagümrük SK's protests and gave Özbek Ustaoğlu a yellow card for diving instead. After 89 played minutes Karagümrük SK got a freekick which was hit by Özbek Ustaoğlu. Anıl Ege Subahi hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Karagümrük SK walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
