After 4 played minutes FENERBAHÇE got a freekick which was hit by Bora Canbolat. 6 minutes into the match, FENERBAHÇE's goal looked a bit too open when Atalay Yalaza came free, but Recep Tezveren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Recep Tezveren came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Türkoglu's Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ. But to his dismay, Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Atalay Yalaza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Recep Tezveren having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FENERBAHÇE's Alparslan Çırakoğlu got a free kick in the 19th minute. When Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Türkoglu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ couldn't finish the play. A collision led to FENERBAHÇE getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Bora Canbolat hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the match, FENERBAHÇE's goalkeeper Recep Tezveren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ got free with Recep Tezveren in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Giray Ayalp made in the 36th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Atalay Yalaza however managed to control. In the 40th minute, Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ made a precise shot to the right of Recep Tezveren. FENERBAHÇE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Atalay Yalaza's late challenge caught a FENERBAHÇE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Atalay Yalaza helped the player get up and apologised. FENERBAHÇE made a substitution. Devran Usare replaced Hatemi Pamiroğlu. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ergin Sabancı to make the kick off. Recep Tezveren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Atalay Yalaza, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Atalay Yalaza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Recep Tezveren read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. After 57 minutes, Erdinç Orkan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FENERBAHÇE and the Türkoglu players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th minute, Erdinç Orkan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Atalay Yalaza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FENERBAHÇE's zone, Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Recep Tezveren came out of the goal and Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Recep Tezveren having to interfere. Recep Tezveren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ in the 75th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Recep Tezveren. FENERBAHÇE's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Talat Orkut made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aybars Tatu in the 80th minute of play. After 82 minutes of play, Türkoglu's Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Recep Tezveren was left in no man's land by his defense there! 86 minutes into the match, FENERBAHÇE's goal looked a bit too open when Atalay Yalaza came free, but Recep Tezveren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But to his dismay, Yavuz Selimhan Atatuğ quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. After a defensive mix-up in FENERBAHÇE's zone, Atalay Yalaza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Recep Tezveren came out of the goal and Atalay Yalaza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Türkoglu walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
