Şevket Hünkar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. If İlhan Ayıkoğlu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ege Sancaktar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Akgün Sanih tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 31 minutes, Sabri Vacip managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GÖZTEPE A.Ş's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sabri Vacip was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Şevket Hünkar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sabri Vacip's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. In the 36th minute, Sabri Vacip got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Şevket Hünkar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from İlhan Ayıkoğlu in the 37th minute of play. If Ege Sancaktar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. İlhan Ayıkoğlu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şevket Hünkar having to interfere. After the first half GÖZTEPE A.Ş were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

53 minutes into the game, İlhan Ayıkoğlu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Şevket Hünkar. İlhan Ayıkoğlu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Ali Behzat Akkaynak hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Şevket Hünkar was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Bedih Özdeğer. Sabri Vacip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şevket Hünkar having to interfere. Sabri Vacip blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Şevket Hünkar having to make a save. Şevket Hünkar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from İlhan Ayıkoğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ege Sancaktar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Akgün Sanih tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ege Sancaktar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Polat Adsoy hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Akgün Sanih showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ege Sancaktar, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Ege Sancaktar took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Akgün Sanih. Akgün Sanih dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The supporters of Mahrez booed when GÖZTEPE A.Ş was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. İlhan Kocay didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Nurtekin Özbek's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Akgün Sanih was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Bedir Arısan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Şevket Hünkar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
