In the 14th match minute, Antakya was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by İrfan Kuthan to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Antakya booed when Beşiktaş was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Turgay Vecihi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Turgay Vecihi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Beşiktaş's supporters rose to their feet, but Turgay Vecihi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sami Safi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 44 minutes into the match, Antakya's goalkeeper Sami Safi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Turgay Vecihi. After the first half Antakya were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Çağrı Yaybüke made the kick off in the second half. Beşiktaş's Seyfullah Erkinay got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Beşiktaş fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. 94 minutes into the match, Beşiktaş's Turgay Vecihi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sami Safi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Beşiktaş's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
