The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by İsmail Çetinsu during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Emrah Tümerk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rolf Friberger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bahattin Sirer in the 28th minute of the match. Gökcan Ungan kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the match, MTK's goal looked a bit too open when Rıza Özerk came free, but Zeki Torgay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rıza Özerk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rolf Friberger came out of the goal in the 49th minute to try and stop a shot by MTK's Emrah Tümerk. But to his dismay, Emrah Tümerk quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hayrettin Cumali to make the kick off. MTK's Emrah Tümerk got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 62 minutes, Emrah Tümerk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MTK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emrah Tümerk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rolf Friberger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bahattin Sirer in the 64th minute of the match. Rıza Özerk charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rıza Özerk the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 65th match minute, TürkGücü was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rıza Özerk to maneuver through the defense. Emrah Tümerk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute, Emrah Tümerk ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rolf Friberger was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Rolf Friberger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bahattin Sirer in the 78th minute of play. Emrah Tümerk took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rolf Friberger. Rolf Friberger dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Hayrettin Cumali got his second yellow card in the match during the 85th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of MTK booed when TürkGücü was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hayrettin Cumali didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. MTK had won after a very even match.
