Bornova's Bahtiyar Karadeniz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Göktuğ Şahbender in the 5th minute of play. Ahmet Davut Öğüç sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Turan Cansever fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bahtiyar Karadeniz having to interfere. Kuddusî Reşit fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bahtiyar Karadeniz having to interfere. Fırat Kaya blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bahtiyar Karadeniz having to make a save. Fırat Kaya sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Gaziantep booed when Bornova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cuma Belge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fırat Kaya in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bahtiyar Karadeniz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mümtazer Yura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bilge Ungan in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Tomasz Kon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 34th minute of the match Ertunç İlkutay sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mümtazer Yura skillfully saved the ball. If Göktuğ Şahbender had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gaziantep's Kuddusî Reşit got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bahtiyar Karadeniz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fırat Kaya, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute Fırat Kaya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bahtiyar Karadeniz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fırat Kaya to strike the kick off in the second half. Fırat Kaya could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Bahtiyar Karadeniz made a huge save. Kuddusî Reşit sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Bahtiyar Karadeniz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fırat Kaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Bahtiyar Karadeniz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Turan Cansever in the 60th minute. The corner led Gaziantep's Pawel Sitko to fire away a dangerous shot which Bahtiyar Karadeniz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Göktuğ Şahbender received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Bahtiyar Karadeniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 74 played minutes Gaziantep got a freekick which was hit by Boğaçhan Tavil. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kıraç İdrisoğlu in the 77th minute of play forced Gaziantep's goalkeeper Mümtazer Yura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Göktuğ Şahbender sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaziantep's Kuddusî Reşit managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Cuma Belge in the 86 minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fırat Kaya in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bahtiyar Karadeniz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Turan Cansever managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gaziantep's supporters rose to their feet, but Turan Cansever was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bahtiyar Karadeniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Turan Cansever hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match.
