Baran Alp Yılğıralp started the match with the kick off. Rıfkı Acem stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reha Okboğa's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Battalgazi's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Beyhan Akalın scored to the left of an out of position Servet Durkaya, making the score, 1-0. When Reha Okboğa came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Battalgazi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reha Okboğa couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Battalgazi booed when Fenerbahçe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Güvenç Safvetullah didn't get a good kick on the ball. Battalgazi were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Fenerbahçe's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Recai Tibet took the corner. After taking down the ball on Battalgazi's corner Recai Tibet fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Rıfkı Acem quite easily take care of the ball. If Beyhan Akalın had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Battalgazi's Recai Tibet got a free kick in the 27th minute. When Beyhan Akalın came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Fenerbahçe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Beyhan Akalın couldn't finish the play. 30 minutes into the game, Arif Memduh Cinel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Battalgazi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fenerbahçe the free kick. In the 32nd minute, Fenerbahçe got a penalty, and Reha Kara placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. In the 35th match minute, Fenerbahçe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Asım Özbey to maneuver through the defense. Rıfkı Acem showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reha Okboğa in the 36th minute of the match. After 38 minutes of play, Battalgazi's Reha Okboğa made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rıfkı Acem was left in no man's land by his defense there! No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kutalp Yorgun to strike the kick off in the second half. Bahri Orus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Rıfkı Acem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kutalp Yorgun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reha Okboğa got free with Rıfkı Acem in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Kutalp Yorgun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Reha Okboğa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Battalgazi's supporters rose to their feet, but Reha Okboğa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rıfkı Acem breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 86th minute, Mümin Vakkasoğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th match minute, Battalgazi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aşık Menderes to maneuver through the defense. 88 minutes into the match, Fenerbahçe's Reha Kara broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Servet Durkaya showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beyhan Akalın in the 90th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 92nd minute by Reha Okboğa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 96 minutes into the match, Battalgazi's Kutalp Yorgun sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rıfkı Acem narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Battalgazi's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Fenerbahçe had won, even though Battalgazi had held more of the ball.
