The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tümer Saraç hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Faruk Işılay showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mustafa Arif Gümüşcü's late challenge caught a Icardiiii's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mustafa Arif Gümüşcü helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Gönen getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Mustafa Arif Gümüşcü hit a great ball. After 9 played minutes Icardiiii got a freekick which was hit by Tümer Saraç. After having played for 12 minutes, Bayındır Mehmet Derviş managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gönen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bayındır Mehmet Derviş was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Faruk Işılay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ahmet Asım Akbaba in the 16th minute of play. Oğuz Uraltay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Furkan Pamirhan in the 18th minute of play. If Bayındır Mehmet Derviş had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bayındır Mehmet Derviş fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faruk Işılay having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Mustafa Arif Gümüşcü hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute, Bayındır Mehmet Derviş got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gönen's Vefa Doğanay suffered a fractured collar bone after 37 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 37 minutes of play Icardiiii's Tümer Saraç was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Doğan Kerim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th match minute, Gönen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahmet Asım Akbaba to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bayındır Mehmet Derviş to make the kick off. Doğan Kerim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Oğuz Uraltay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bayındır Mehmet Derviş recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alkan Egelioğlu hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. If Doğan Kerim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Doğan Kerim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Gönen's zone, Doğan Kerim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oğuz Uraltay came out of the goal and Doğan Kerim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alkan Egelioğlu got his second yellow card in the match during the 82nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground.
