The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Baki Sebati during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, GALATASARAY's Baki Sebati got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 10th minute Erim Tanak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kutay Servet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erim Tanak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FENERBAHÇE's Veysel Bahçeli got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 25 minutes into the match, FENERBAHÇE's goal looked a bit too open when Savaşer Kerimhan came free, but Kutay Servet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, GALATASARAY's Savaşer Kerimhan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kutay Servet narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Erim Tanak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to FENERBAHÇE getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Umur Mahir hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erim Tanak in the 41st minute of play forced FENERBAHÇE's goalkeeper Kutay Servet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

54 minutes into the game, Erim Tanak recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Kutay Servet. Erim Tanak showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Kutay Servet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mithat Tor in the 58th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Savaşer Kerimhan in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kutay Servet prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Halim Özyurt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tuncay Akgöl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Savaşer Kerimhan in the 72nd minute of play forced FENERBAHÇE's goalkeeper Kutay Servet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute Veysel Bahçeli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Halim Özyurt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. GALATASARAY's Halim Özyurt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tuncay Akgöl in the 82nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Veysel Bahçeli in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Halim Özyurt saved GALATASARAY from getting behind. Baki Sebati kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Tuncay Akgöl struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Halim Özyurt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FENERBAHÇE. In the 91st match minute, FENERBAHÇE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Okan Afgan to maneuver through the defense. If Savaşer Kerimhan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Ensar Beşir fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FENERBAHÇE's protests and gave Ensar Beşir a yellow card for diving instead. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FENERBAHÇE! In the 99th match minute, GALATASARAY was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gürcan Uğurtay to maneuver through the defense. The FENERBAHÇE supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching GALATASARAY's performance. The match ended with a win for GALATASARAY.
